The purpose of this conference is to clarify
issues with course assignments and your degree program, interact with
classmates and Dr. Abernathy, and feel confident that you will move forward in
your course and program. Dr. Abernathy
encouraged everyone to participate in the class evaluations at lamar.edu before
the class ends. The focus audience for
this class is all teachers. The Week 2
project is an introduction to a core curriculum subject area, not a P.S.A. In the past they did PSA’s but not this time. Your podcast should be about 90 seconds, but
Dr. Abernathy will accept anything. She
is not going to be picky about the length of the podcast. Every team member turns in all documents so
that everyone gets credit for each assignment.
You should document everything in Google Docs. Week 2 is about exploring Audacity and
Creative Commons, and writing a script for your podcast, and creating a
podcast.

Dr. Abernathy made it clear that some people
have credit for their script and not their digital story, and vice versa. One should email her if you don’t have credit
for both the script and the digital story.
Dr. Abernathy also said she expects everyone to start with an “A” and
stay there. She said you should notify
her if you haven’t turned something in.
She is making notes of people who have said they turned something in and
didn’t get credit; she will make sure you get credit for your assignment before
the course is over. Dr. Abernathy’s goal
for this class is for students to be successful, not frustrated. Dr. Abernathy noted that there nine parts to
the Week 5 Assignment. She addressed
confusion about assignments 4.3 and 4.4 by stating that we should state on the
assignments that we are working on our video.
She stated that Week 4 is a guide for Week 5, and that we will get full
credit for everything in week 4. Dr.
Abernathy’s goal for us is to be able to use what we have learned in this class
with our students or with other teachers. Dr. Abernathy said she would send out
the Week 5 Overview today. She also
reminded everyone to participate in the class surveys.

The purpose of this conference is to clarify
any issues for Week 5. The correct 5.4
Assignment is in the announcements, and Dr. Abernathy will eventually put it
into Epic. She also recommended Google
Docs for posting your team reflections.
The Week 5 Overview, posted in Epic, has a list of the items you should
post in your TK20. You also need to
upload web conference reflections into your ePortfolio. There is a link to internship forms in the
weekly overviews. The purpose of the
ePortfolio is to show your professionalism and the things you have
accomplished. Dr. Abernathy suggested we
put “done” for each item in the 5.3 Assignment.
Internship hours include the work you have completed in this class and
in previous classes. By the 7th
course you should have completed your 150 internship hours. These hours are your course embedded
assignments.
